Location: Kyoto City
Material: Black painted bamboo (Inu-yari)
Technique: Flat split processing
An example of Inu-yari being used as the exterior of a store.
Traditionally, Inu-yari was used to protect exterior walls from mud and dog urine,
but now it has become one of Kyoto’s representative cultural traditions.
This time, black painted bamboo was used to create a more chic finish.
Also, by creating gaps between the bamboo and installing lighting inside,
it has a strong presence even at night.
